Due to the shortage of log resources, Ghana's timber exports in the first quarter fell from 90,000 cubic meters in the same period last year to 62,000 cubic meters in the first quarter of this year, a decrease of nearly one-third. $ 30 million fell to $ 22 million in the first quarter of the year.
The chief executive of the Ghana Forestry Commission said that although the volume of timber exports has declined, the value of exports has increased. At the same time, he added that reducing Ghana's timber exports is to achieve the goal of increasing export value. He also mentioned that the government of Ghana must support the timber industry in developing more wood value-added products.
